Re: Does bpi make you feel lazy?

<t>For the handshake, switch hands. May seem weird at first, but it let's you control the situation and doesn't put you on the spot.<br/> <br/> When I shake hands and I'm holding a drink in one hand (like at cocktail parties and whatnot), I either hand my drink off to my husband or awkwardly hold it...

Re: recent traumatic bpi - need help and advice

<r>Trimommy, just curious on your technique for swimming. I'm an athlete as well. I enjoy running, and have taken up biking as a cross train cardio, and trail running to ease the road-run pounding on my knees when I was half-marathon training. <br/> <br/> I work at a Fitness Center and we put on lot...

Re: trying to keep a normal life

<t>I think people that don't fully understand or know you will tell you to "not overdue it". I think the people that know you best will let you do all you can until you ask for help or rest, but they will standby waiting for you. That's the way it should be.<br/> <br/> I'm nearly 10yrs post injury a...

Re: OT or PT or both???

<t>Reason for PT is all around health. Regarding the body's movements, the acts of organized exercises trigger nerve impulses to fire down the line in the injured arm because of the movement. The body was not built to be one-sided, the body was built as a mirror image. It must balance itself and it ...

Wrist brace w/hook (pics)

<r>Earlier this week I decided to try out my little hooked wrist brace idea for riding my motorcycle. My hand kept slipping from my glove while it was attached to the bar. My first opportunity to try it was at MSF class this weekend. Which means I wore this for 5rs straight each day while riding a m...

Re: Bowling! Keyboard typing

<t>Well, since my good arm has always been my strong hand, I'm lucky. I've been pretty able to bowl like I did before (my scores don't improve!) lol<br/> <br/> As for typing, I never thought about using any kind of modified keyboard. I just continued to go about using the normal one. I was blessed a...

Re: Help design Kitchen Utensils for use with one arm!

<t>Oh yeah, cutting meat is a bit tricky. I've found the best way to slice it is to have it frozen/thawed to just the right solid-state of frozen that the blade cuts the meat without it moving. I make beef jerky a lot anjd that seems to net the most consistent results when trying to slice meat thin....

<t>One-handed can opener (that does not require the possible sacrifice of an existing digit!)<br/> <br/> A can/jar holder of some sort. That you can place the jar on to be held stable so you can twist the lid. Or that you can pull the tab and peel the lid open (soda cans, fruit cans, soup cans etc)....

Re: What would you do?

<t>You know, I had to reread this several times. My take on it, doing things with one hand is hassel enough. Doing things with one injured hand for the rest of your life will really limit you. My opinion, put in a difficult 6wks and get that finger fixed so that it is as close to 100% as you can get...
