Disk problems
Have any of you had problems with herniated disks and sciatica from doing nothing special? Seems my back is giving out a lot lately. Wish I could get a full MRI. I'd like to see what the seggree of scoliosis has curved to. Thanks. Pat Quinn

Re: Disk problems
I have noticed lately when I am doing my therapy with weights that my back tends to hurt. Like when I'm laying down it feels definately like a pinched nerve or disc. However, when I stand up its nothing. Maybe I'm just overcompensating to much on that one side.

Hi Pat
Good to see you on the boards again. I have always had a problem with sciatica it really began with my first pregnancy. I suffered with it through all three pregnancies. The only time I really have a problem now is if I go over a certain weight... I was just having a problem with it noticed I gained back 5 lbs I had lost and as soon as I lost the weight the problem was gone again. I just start to have the problem... I guess my back just can't handel the weight. Most of my problems are really in the disks in my upper back and neck but I am sure that the scoliosis as mild as it appears is part of the problem with me... I am not tall-- ok -- I am short so I cannot afford to carry extra weight or my back kills me.

Re: Disk problems
I am short too. I had an MRI yesterday morning. Last night the dr. called and told me that I have herniated cervical disk with a bone spur that's intertwined in it at C-4 and C-5. He's talking surgery and got me in to see a surgeon tomorrow. I had sciatica in my lower back last month. They are thinking herniation ther too. Blah!!!!!!!!! All this for going vback to work part time. I asked what the MRI shoed on the Erb's side and he said they weren't looking at that. This is central spinal cord. Wish there was some way to convince these Dr's that all of this spinal mess stems from the Erb's Palsy. This is not "normal" aging" What more does disability need to hear from these folks that are being denied. This is a vicious cycle of degenerative -----well--I guess whole body.
Well, wish me luck tomorrow-- I hope surgery won' be indicated. Thanks for listening. Pat quinn
