Pets and Therapy
The storking of a cat's fur with a BPI arm may increase the muscle and tactile nerves. I know that my three cats never shy away from a little bit of grooming and love. Over the years, I have given my time to animal shelters for socialization. To make the task easier, I carry a canvas bag of catnip in my pocket. This tends to calm the cats and they approach me with the need to be petted. I use my BPI arm to increase my R.O.M. and stretch the muscles. Plus, I get a bonus of hanging with some great animals. It's a win-win situation!
Re: Pets and Therapy
I have noticed that cats and especially dogs always check out my injured arm and tend to give it unusual attention. I know that animals can sense injuries and illnesses in different ways, but it still makes me feel good when they play nursemaid.

- Injury Description, Date, extent, surgical intervention etc: LOBPI. I am 77 yrs old and never had a name for my injuries until 2004 when I found UBPN at age 66.
My injuries are: LOBPI on upper body and Cerebrael Palsy on the lower left extremities. The only intervention I've had is a tendon transplant from my left leg to my left foot to enable flexing t age 24 in 1962. Before that, my foot would freeze without notice on the side when wearing heels AND I always did wear them at work "to fit in" I also stuttered until around age 18-19...just outgrew it...no therapy for it. Also suffered from very very low self esteem; severe Depression and Anxiety attacks started at menopause. I stuffed emotions and over-compensated in every thing I did to "fit in" and be "invisible". My injuries were Never addressed or talked about until age 66. I am a late bloomer!!!!!
I welcome any and all questions about "My Journey".

My Service dog,Jack Russell...a mellow Jack has saved my sanity and surely helps with my depression/anxiety Issues.
She,Lucy Lou, tries sooo hard to lick my injured arm nd leg to heal them. I would be a totally different person if i didn't have her....6 years now.
