Some of you may remember my 3 year old son, Brayden, from Camp. He is the the one that told everyone his name was Buzz LIghtyear! He is having a gracilis muscle transfer in his LOBPI tomorrow at 9:00am at Cincinnati Children's Hospital by Dr. Yakubof. He sure could use your prayers! We have had concerns of canceling because of a slight cold, but everthing seems to be good now, except a runny nose. Instead I got the worse of the cold and I am slowly getting over it, which I guess is a good thing. We are really nervous, and not looking forward to seeing him in alot of pain, but we are hoping this will pay off in the end! I would really appreciate it if you can keep Brayden in your prayers!
Thank You So Much!!
Bridget Mom of Buzz LightYear!

I will be keeping you all in my thoughts and prayers. My son had the gracilis muscles transfer to his biceps in 2004 at Children's Hospital Boston. I hope all goes well and that your little one has a speedy recovery.

Thank you for your thoughts and prayers! It has been a very bumpy ride for Brayden. He was in surgery Wednesday for about 6 1/2 to 7 hours. The doctor says that it all went very well and it looks really promising. They anchored the muscle to the clavacle and at the bend of his elbow, and attached it to his bicep to give him some elbow functioning. He had a little rough time with ansthesia making him really nauseous. He finally started to eat yesterday afternoon, and they took his morphine away, but he would not take anything by mouth for pain. He would not let us know he was in pain. He stayed up half the night and moaning and whinning, and he would fall asleep off an on, but for only an hour or 2 at a time. This morning he wanted to use bathroom in the toilet, so I helped him walk to bathroom crying whimpering the entire walk which was understandable. When we got back to the bed he started to get sick again. He went to the bathroom again and afterwards he got sick again, and again after seeting in a chair. He set in the chair for a long time and actually ate little breakfast. Then we tried to sneak oral medicine again, and he got sick again. After a while they went ahead and gave him more moraphine on top of his thoradine(spelling?) and muscle relaxer. He started feeling alot better. We thought maybe the reason he was getting sick or had a bad night, might have been the ansthesia, but after thinking about it reallized he was really in pain last night and this morning. He stayed in constant sweat last night and was really whinny, and this morning how he got sick after each walk just made me think how it has to be pain. He had not taken any medicine by mouth, until this morning and when he did he got sick or just not take it at all. They have been giving tylenol supositories and I am making them give them on a regular basis to keep him from beeing in pain. Since he has been taking them he has been a regular comedian! I had to convince the nurse to give it just a few minutes ago. I told her I am not letting him have a nother night or morning like that one again!
His drain comes out of his leg tomorrow so hopefully we get to go home! He is really ready, and me and my now sick husband are more then ready! Thank you again for all your thoughts and prayers for my little man! He has been so brave and such a trooper! It just blows my mind what these kids can have to go thru and over come!

i think that because of this injury we all have an exceptionally high pain tolerance, he's brave for not saying anything about the pain, and i'm glad to hear he is doing well
