HEY EVERYONE,I'M 4 MONTHS POST ACCIDENT I'M TRYING TO GET SOMETHING,ANYTHING DONE ASAP,I APPLIED FOR MEDI-CAL INSURANCE IN OCTOBER AND AM HAVING A HARD TIME GETTING A RESPONSE FROM THOSE IDIOTS,PLUS I DOUBT THAT THEY WILL COVER ANYTHING REGARDING TBPI SO MY QUESTION IS WHAT IS THE LONGEST ANYONE HAS WENT WITHOUT SURGERY AND HAS ANYONE WHO HAD TO WAIT FOR LONGER THAN 6 MONTHS HAD ANY SUCCESS OR IS IT JUST TOO LATE AFTER THE 3-6 MONTH WINDOW I KEEP HEARING ABOUT?

Hi armstrong,

First your doing a great job, Try SSa when you have your records together that will take time to. I hope you do this its worth a try. I never had surgery for my left erbs they never had them for me in the 50s. I am a retired from a being a Chicago city semi driver a Padi Master Diver and 61 retired My left erbs from birth, broke my elbow and scapula to. You will get the treatment you can when you can that all you can do. You can ask where you can get medical treatment ware you live here . I cant help here on this but I have lived with erbs for life . I am on the private board if I can help ;) Tom

armstrong, i am 8 months out and i had to demand an emg. i talked to dr armani's nurse in texas by e-mail. i called on the phone and was told that since i am 8 months out i need an emg asap because my time is extremely short if anything can be done. my window of opportunity is almost gone. i have an on-the-job injury, so i have workers comp. if i didnt have that, i would be sunk. if you would like to call dr armani's office i will get the info for you. good luck

Dr. Li of Wake Forest University made it clear to me that the success rate goes down tremendously when you go past 6 months. I think it would be great if you accelerated the process any way that you can. Insurance or not, you are going to have to have someone who understands TBPI look at you. I found I wasted much time with UNC & Duke. I needed a Brachial Plexus surgeon that understood the injury.

the best of luck to you!

I had a successful gracilis muscle surgery 11 months after my accident. Not ideal, but I previously had no use of my left arm. Now I am able to work full-time, build things using fun power tools, and run with my puppy dog; all things that I thought I would never be able to do. The sooner you act, the more function you will be able to have. In my opinion, Mayo Clinic-Rochester is the best place for you.

There is so much reseach information here and question like ware doctors and treatments are here right? It is so very hard when you get injuryies later in life. For me haveing no treatment offerd and being birth erbs was easyier compared to so much need for direction for sure. Last doctor I saw told me LIVE with it kid, I was 13. So new treatment will happen in ones life time-Tom

my EMG showed i have a pinched nerve!!! along with my bpi injury!! i am furious!! think i might postpone my doc appt for tommorow so i can cool down a bit. but i cant do that due to the fact that if i need more surgery, it can't wait any longer. stupid doctor!! i have been begging for an EMG for the past 6 months.
