We knew him from our picnics. He helped the little girl of a dear friend of mine. She had surgery when Maia had her primary surgery and did so well. Locally, they called him Uncle Sal. He was the life at our gatherings.

Very sad about this TCH clinic and all the doctors who have now passed on.

Injury Description, Date, extent, surgical intervention etc: Daughter has global palsy (c5-T1 injury) 5 surgeries at Texas Children's by Dr
Laurent, Shenaq, and Nath. 1st Surel graft 2nd Intercostal transfer 3rd Latisimus Dorsi transfer with subscapular release 4th Pec release 5th Bicep lenghtening, (which weakened her bicep, and contracture returned.) Has went through serial casting with fair results. Her arm is about a hand shorter then the other. She has limited hand function. (able to grasp) Arm stays pronated. Unable to get to neutral. Now dealing with sternoclavicular subluxation. All that being said....She is very functional. She is a very determined, strong, tenacious young woman. Now 15. She plays the trumpet, french horn, drums, guitar, and now learning piano. Has always played on a softball, and basketball team. Until recently, for fear of further injury due to the sternoclavicular subluxation. (separation of colarbone from sternum) Not sure if all this is spelled right.

I can't hardly believe this. Dr. Lee, Dr. Laurent, and now Dr. Shenaq. There is just a deep sadness that I am feeling right now. It is difficult for me to express.

Dr. Shenaq was young !!! I just read the obituary and he was only 58 years old. It is truly sad at any age, the fact that he was so young, saddens me much more. Our prayers are with his family during this difficult time !! GAYLE

The world is a much lesser place because of the loss of this dear man and beloved doctor. He did so much for so many and will be deeply missed. I am so very saddened to hear this news and wish to extend my deepest sympathies on behalf of our ubpn community.

Such sad news. I can only hope that other doctors will fill the void for BPI kids.

How sad he was a great doctor and a kind and funny man, He did two of Frankies surgeries the first with Dr Laurent who also is still missed. Frankie loved Dr Shenaq he made him feel comfortable and safe before his surgeries. Frankie could never say his name being a toddler so he called him Dr Snack. Dr Shenaq loved his nickname and when ever we would go to see him he would tell Frankie it was Snack time. Why do all the good people died so young. Mare

This saddens me very much, what a great man to dedicate his life to helping children/adults with our injury. Does any one know why he passed he was so very young. This truly saddens me and my thoughts and prayers go out to his family and all whom he helped.
