I have loged over 350 dives , I am a Master Diver and perdencial. including rescue diver with help! Do you need arms to scuba dive No!! I gust got closer to 400 dives with help !! I want to teach scuba diving to adults and chilren! I did it even when my only good arm arm got ripe up!!! Tom

Injury Description, Date, extent, surgical intervention etc: LOBPI. I am 77 yrs old and never had a name for my injuries until 2004 when I found UBPN at age 66.

My injuries are: LOBPI on upper body and Cerebrael Palsy on the lower left extremities. The only intervention I've had is a tendon transplant from my left leg to my left foot to enable flexing t age 24 in 1962. Before that, my foot would freeze without notice on the side when wearing heels AND I always did wear them at work "to fit in" I also stuttered until around age 18-19...just outgrew it...no therapy for it. Also suffered from very very low self esteem; severe Depression and Anxiety attacks started at menopause. I stuffed emotions and over-compensated in every thing I did to "fit in" and be "invisible". My injuries were Never addressed or talked about until age 66. I am a late bloomer!!!!!

I welcome any and all questions about "My Journey".

I am in Chicago , You cant learn to scuba dive with ERBS, Read on

The Heart fondation for handicap divers who in fact teach people blind, loss of useage or loss of limp to dive. You can call up your local scuba shop to find out any handicap programs. I am a Master Diver , with over 380 dives. I have been diving sents 1981, I have ERBS in my lfet and my good arm got ripped up nerve streach issues in right. I do want to be a instructor for people with arm limition because of my life experance. I wish alot more people on this board would ask me questions. Diving is weightless on erbs the pain drops at depth no gravity strange but true. If you have more question just ask TOM.

Thanks for the info Tom. My 20 year old daughter with LOBPI is planning scuba lessons, and it makes me more than a little anxious. She hasn't started yet, but will soon. She has use of her injured arm, but it isn't as strong as her other, nor can she supinate. She would love to find an instructor sensitive to her needs. You aren't in Florida by chance??? Thanks. Please have no fear go with her, the diving starts in a pool and there is a instructor with her at all times, You dive with a dive buddy and you never dive a lone.The dive buddy is with you in any dives you watch out for each other thats any diver period. I am in chicago, but what do you fear tell me? Tom
