Washington flights?

Post by lizzyb »

Hi all...Neil and I will be coming to the UBPN camp/comference in Sept. 15 - Sept. 18 at the 4H Conference Center in Chevy Chase, MD. Assuming that the dates and venue are confirmed, we want to book flights etc. now before the prices go up again.

Questions are, which airport is the nearest; any recommendations for hire cars/big touring bikes (we want to hang around the U.S. for a few weeks, maybe three) and hotels etc...mainly, which ones to avoid??

Any other people with a TBPI from here going? I know Court will be, anyone else?

Looking forward to this...hope the weather is nice then!

Hi Liz,

Gosh it will be so much fun to see you and Neil again.

The dates and venue are confirmed. Outreach is at the printers and the info will be out soon.

If you are planning to rent a car, then it really doesn't matter which of the three aiports you use to come in. I'd go with the cheapest air flight. The 3 airports are Dulles, Reagan National, and Baltimore (BWI)

In renting a car the biggest bite is with the insurance, so make sure to check on that when you are doing a price comparison. Any of the national chains are reliable (Hertz, Avis, Dollar, National, Alamo, Enterprise). You can get a good comparison at orbitz.com.

Injury Description, Date, extent, surgical intervention etc: I am ROBPI, global injury, Horner's Syndrome. No surgery but PT started at 2 weeks old under the direction of New York Hospital. I wore a brace 24/7 for the first 11 months of my life. I've never let my injury be used as an excuse not to do something. I've approach all things, in life, as a challenge. I approach anything new wondering if I can do it. I tried so many things I might never have tried, if I were not obpi. Being OBPI has made me strong, creative, more determined and persistent. I believe that being obpi has given me a very strong sense of humor and compassion for others.

I am so happy to read you are coming to Camp. This time I will have my very own baggage handler with me. Ralph is better at luggage than I am... Can't wait to see you guys again.

Do you think Karen will come?

Liz - I live very close to DC and my boyfriend grew up around there. Reagan Airport is 10 miles away and Dullas is 20 miles from Chevy Chase. Reagan is south of DC and Dullas west so either one would put you close to the conference. You could also try Baltimore, but that's a little north of Chevy Chase. I don't know if international flights come into the Richmond airport in Virginia but that's where I am and you could have a room to stay in. Even if you flew into Reagan or Dullas, it wouldn't be hard for me to come and meet you. Just let me know what you need and not matter what, I'm going to the conference so I'll see you there.

We would love to bring James, but it all depends on our financial situation. Doesnt UBPN have some sponsorship something to help with this? How does that work?

Susan,

This is really great that you and everyone else is coming to camp.

Priscilla, when you receive your Outreach, there is a page for a camp sponsorship application. This should answer your questions.

Can't wait to meet you all at camp.

Hugs,

Karen

Many thanks Susan...we might well take up your offer....just need to finalise the flights etc and I'll let you know then what times blah blah...

We are thinking about hiring a car and going on a bit of a tour round after the conference, so we'll be able to get up and see ya Court! Also might be going across the border to meet up with some other BPI peeps...we just need to get organised!

Thanks again Susan...will definitely be in touch! Cheers!
