Injury Description, Date, extent, surgical intervention etc: I am ROBPI, global injury, Horner's Syndrome. No surgery but PT started at 2 weeks old under the direction of New York Hospital. I wore a brace 24/7 for the first 11 months of my life. I've never let my injury be used as an excuse not to do something. I've approach all things, in life, as a challenge. I approach anything new wondering if I can do it. I tried so many things I might never have tried, if I were not obpi. Being OBPI has made me strong, creative, more determined and persistent. I believe that being obpi has given me a very strong sense of humor and compassion for others.

I also dislike cold weather! My arm is always so cold. We just had -40 defrees F. This past Monday. That did not even include windsheild. Brrrr!!! Its better today though we had 9 degrees at 6:30 pm so that good. The cold does not cause any more pain that normal for me so thats good. Cant wait for the warmer weather,

Kath - please come and visit us here in TX!:) Sabrina wore shorts to school again today - supposed to be close to 80 degrees. Britt never really complains about anything - but I do - I wonder if her arm is cold. I was a mess in Illinois over the holidays - the kids (who've always lived in the South) didn't understand why you 'preheat' a car or what static electricity is - zapped my poor dog's nose one morning when I petted her in Illinois. (We bring both dogs with us) Just was checking in here and thought I'd share. I hope that you warm up soon - go get in that hot tub!:) (But then again you have to get out - and that gets chilly!) Brittney seems immune to the cold - I will ask her tonight.
Hot chocolate is great with extra marshmellows!
Love,
Christy

I don't think I paid much attention when I was in my teens, I was too busy being a teenager... but my Mother use to have a fit because I always had the covers over my head and would grab my jacket or robe and have it over me... I must have been cold and just compensated without know exactly why. My husband said when we were young I was alway telling him my right side, breast, shoulder and arm were cold but not the left... He tought I was nuts! so did I ... I did not fully understand the connection between my arm injury and circulation... dummy!

Yes, I would trade the warm weather... Texas sounds good to me now... I was in the hot tub and for the first time the wind got me when I got out... and the snow is on the deck... I have to wait until Ralph is home I don't want to slip on the ice... LOL...

Injury Description, Date, extent, surgical intervention etc: LOBPI. I am 77 yrs old and never had a name for my injuries until 2004 when I found UBPN at age 66.

My injuries are: LOBPI on upper body and Cerebrael Palsy on the lower left extremities. The only intervention I've had is a tendon transplant from my left leg to my left foot to enable flexing t age 24 in 1962. Before that, my foot would freeze without notice on the side when wearing heels AND I always did wear them at work "to fit in" I also stuttered until around age 18-19...just outgrew it...no therapy for it. Also suffered from very very low self esteem; severe Depression and Anxiety attacks started at menopause. I stuffed emotions and over-compensated in every thing I did to "fit in" and be "invisible". My injuries were Never addressed or talked about until age 66. I am a late bloomer!!!!!

I welcome any and all questions about "My Journey".

I'm checking in, Kath....nice "balmy" 50's here today in western Washington(state). Yesterday it was 60 with sunshine.I wear a glove on my left hand & a sock on my left foot at night to get warm enough to sleep. I have been known to always have at least 1 blanket at night even in the summer.I agree, we "BPI's" should all move to Arizona!

Carolyn,
My daughter runs HOT. She's always hot, rarely cold.
I live in Belfair...Julia's friend.
I realize we were all suppose to get together and never did. I hope to remedy this by Spring! All of our schedules have just been so hectic and non-consucive to one another, but I really do look forward to meeting you in person!

It's in the teens and 20's here in Ohio with a lot of snow and more coming. Cleaning off the windshield is the worst. My fingers just ache so bad I can barely stand it. I also get a lot of deep arm aches.
I would love to move to Arizona!!! Maybe someday.......
