At Camp in Washington DC we had an Admiral who is OBPI.
He passed all his physicals doing things one handed.
He wanted to be in the Navy.

If we had a war(God forbid) men of all ages would be able to sign up.
My Dad was in the Merchant Marines during WW II and he was well over forty and they took him.
Don't worry about aging out of the service.
People today only go into armed forces if they want to not because they have to.
Also if there were a conflict they would only use highly trained personnel already in service.

Happy Birth Lucas... Enjoy being 26, have fun and fly like and eagle.

Oh... one more thing I always knew the name of my injury and I am 68.
It amazes me when I hear people were not given a name for their injury.
I don't like the name Erb's Palsy because it sounds like a defect instead of an injury.
I also think it sound like a Salad.
I prefer to call it what it is, Obstetrical Biracial Plexus Injury.

Hope you have lots of Birthday Cake and laughs.

Hello Lucas;

I received a draft notice in 1961 during the Vietnam War and obtained a letter from my physician explaining my injury as a brachial plexus injury received during birth. The examining Armed Services physician recommended I receive a 4-F designation - I was not physically suitable for service. I suspect that you would receive a similar designation unless you could convince the draft board you were physically able.

Years later I would use my physicians letter to recall the name of my injury and find UBPN.

My son was born in s military hospital, when the doctors saw his limp arm they said" Looks like he won't ever be in the MILITARY....well my husband was standing there and realized what they had said, but it didn't sink in till later. AT two months old they offered to amputate my son's arm and when I refused to allow they said" It won't be any good anyway and besides, he will never pass the physical to go into the miltary" So you just amputate it.? Needless to say, you will not have to worry about it, I am sure, there is no draft at this time and BPI excludes you unless of course, you are willing to fight it out !! GAYLE mom to Brandon 9 1/2 ROBPI
PS and Thankful that he will never be in the MILITARY !!LOL

You wouldn't have to worry about it anyway, I tried to enlist and they wouldn't let me. I wanted to be a Marine so bad that I could taste it. Semper Fi!!

I wanted to be in the airforce. I starved myself to meet the weight requirement, scored really high on the tests and then flunked the physical at the very end. --Lift both arms above your head--they let me try 3 times to see if I could get it up any higher. I wrote to the airforce and got a reply that said something about meeting minimum requirements.
So I settled for being the most beautiful person in the world and am working toward holdiong the record for eating more chocolate at one sitting than any other BPI in the WORLD!!!!!! ( For those of you who don't know me,that was a joke)
You'll find something else that will satify your life dreams. Keep your chin up
