IDIOPATHIC TBPI

I WAS OPERATED ON 3 YEARS AGO. 5 LEVELS OF MY NECK 9 HOUR SURGERY. STENOSIS, SURGERY SUCCESSFUL. HOWEVER, UPON WAKING COULD NOT USE RIGHT ARM. DELTOID MUSCLE GONE. DOCS SAID WE DID EVERYTHING RIGHT. YOU HAVE IDIOPATHIC BRACHIAL PLEXUS. HAS ANYONE ELSE HAD THIS EXPERIENCE???

I am sorry, but I don't believe that. An EMG or MRI should be able to show something. Are these the only Doctors you have seen?

IDOPATHIC IS A FANCY NAME FOR "WE DON'T KNOW" THERE IS NO DOUBT THAT I HAVE TBP, THEY JUST SAY THEY DON'T KNOW HOW IT HAPPENED. I FEEL THAT THIS CONDITION WAS DUE TO THE SURGERY ON MY NECK.

I wouldn't be at all surprised to hear your injury was caused by surgery. In my years of research, second only to road traffic accidents, medical mishaps are the next biggest cause of TBPI.

I dont know much about your surgery but the brachial plexus nerves run up your neck to you brain. They are very delicate and could be subject to stretch or avulsion with any major neck surgery or sharp blows to the body that cause the head to move the opposite direction of the shoulder etc.

After my surgery to transfer my avulsed nerves my dr readjusted my neck muscles somehow and my previous cronic neck pain is gone. Now on the other hand my transfer didnt work and my bpi pain has been especially terrible this week.

I am a mechanic and i know if i "practiced mechanics" id be broke. The body is a complex machine i guess. I just wish we could all get a break from those high pain days.

Yes, If you don't have it before surgery, and after surgery you have it. What a Doctors? They don't want to accept their malpractice.

I LOVE WHEN YOU SAY THE WORD MISHAPS. I WOULD LIKE TO USE THE WORD NEGLIGENCE. HOWEVER,DOCTORS IN GENERAL WWILL NOT STAND FOR THE USAGE OF THAT WORD. 3 YEARS LATER I AM STILL SUFFERING AND HAVE VERY LITTLE USE OF MY RIGHT ARM. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF ANY OTHER PERSON HAS HAD A SIMILIAR EXPERIENCE AND WHAT WAS THE OUTCOME.

You are running out of time. I would get a lawyer ASAP to open a claim. Every thing right my #%^^^^^&%$#. A lifetime of pain is not ''right''

At the risk of belaboring the point. The term in this particular case would be "iatrogenic", not idiopathic.

HAS ANYONE OUT THERE HAVE OR HAD A MALPRACTICE SUIIT AGAINST A DOCTOR AND BEEN SUCCESSFUL? I KNOW I CANNOT BE THE ONLY ONE WHO HAS GONE THROUGH SURGERY ON THE NECK AND ENDED UP WITH BPI. PLEASE ANSWER SO I WILL NOT FEEL SO ALONE
