TES approved by insurance

Post by StephP »

A piece of good news from the insurance (for a change)!
They have approved our TES unit for night time use, and they are covering it 100%. They were only going to cover partially, but due to the fact that the machine is only made by the one company, the enitre cost ($1425) will be covered. I can't believe how expensive. We've had it for 2 weeks and my son (2) is actually tolerating it pretty well.

Thanks Francine I have looked there but I am asking what is the difference in price? I Am getting a TES and NMES as well but the TES is about $700 verses Steph's $1425. Why the price difference and why is it that insurance is now not covering it and they covered hers? Im just curious. Thanks!

We bought our TES unit from the tascnetwork for $700. Our therapist went to the conference in Las Vegas during the summer and they announced they had some units they wanted to get rid of since their seperation with Mayatek. However...a friend of mine was going through the process of trying to get insurance approval for a unit and they were told it was $1400. When the insurance company continued to drag their feet my friend told Mayatek she was going to pay for it herself and I think they sold it to her for $700. Then the insurance company came through and approved paying for half of it and the company bumped the price back up! Her husband questioned them about charging the insurance company more. I forget how much they ended up paying but it wasnt the $1400. It just sounded like a whole lot of wheeling and dealing going on.

If your child is disabled you can put him on MA. This covers all payments including copays. Our copays were $20 each therapy session. $180 a month. Now it is fully covered and anything we need also. SSI diability starts around 500 a month.
