Hi....my name is Andreanna and am new to this site. My granddaughter was born on 2-3-2010 and has a BPI in her right arm. She was 7ibs 6oz, 20in long. My daughter, only 16,is 5'6 and 135lbs pre-pregnancy. The dr induced my daughter on 2-1-2010, she was then sent home on 2-2-2010 (even though she was losing amniotic fluid) because they said she wasn't progressing. After calling the hospital and questioning their decision to send her home they told her to come back and that she should have told them she was losing fluid (she did!!) When she went back, they started her epidural and broke her water. That was at 3:00 pm on 2-2-2010. Emily wasn't born until 2-3-2010 at 7:00am. The dr did a vacuum extraction on her and the back of her head has finally healed in just the last week and a half (the skin on the back of her head was tore open and they "glued" it back together).
Emily has been to Denver once and will go back in a couple weeks, hopefully to find out the extent of her injury.
We have been introduced to an amazing family in our town that has been extremely helpful!!
Since we have never had to deal with BPI, thank God, any advice, suggestions, ANYTHING would be greatly appreciated!!!
