Injury Description, Date, extent, surgical intervention etc: My name is Bridget, my son Brayden has a LOBPI. He was born 5-14-07 and weighted 11lbs 3ozs and was 22inches long and got stuck on my pelvis coming out. All 5 nerves were involved 2 ruptured and 3 avulsed, and also had Horner's Syndrome. He had primary surgery in St. Louis with Dr. Parks when he was 3 months old. He used synthetic materials to fuse the nerves together, because the nerves in his calves were not long enough. Brayden currently does aqua therapy, PT, OT and speech therapy. He has little movement in his arm and hand, but that does not stop him from having fun and being a normal boy!!!

Arc Davis Brace

Post by bfaithda »

We are looking into getting an Arc David Brace for my son Brayden who is 2 years old. He has subluxation going on in his shoulder and we are hoping this Brace helps! I was just wanting to get opinions from anybody who has used this brace.

Hi , Well I am glad this suject for bracing came up. I do know that I had a brace when I was very little in the 50s. Braceing is inportant for sure , but I still remember bracing and how much it hurt trying to sleep with it on even today. This is far and away something more inportant that I belive. If your baby really start crying trying to sleep with it on , please concider having the brace lower a little for sleeping? I think my brace was to high at shoulder level with to sleep that way pull other muscles laying down I bet. My mom told me years latter that see used a me a stuff aniamal as a distraction. Hopfully this helps??

Trying to remember what my mom said back then?? I am going try to describe just what she said happen with me with bracing back in the 50s . I have seen a form of the type of brace that ,kinda looks like what was used on me, I had back then? The brace had the arm raised to shoulder level , I had a fracture elbow and scapula with the erbs at birth and brace maybe 2. If they have today a brace lower to the side for sleeping I think it might be a good thing. Because I had a broken scapula to, using a pillow help support my erbs all my life. I believe using pillows to support my erbs arm and shoulder help a lot after driving Semis for years. Strange is when my mom told me I would sleep on the stuff animal in away that cushion the brace an shoulder. Just a thought about bracing I thought was important to say? Trying to remember was a challenge, I hope this may help????
