HELP NEEDED
Hi everybody
My husband Tom has a bpi to what exactly I'm not sure yet as I'm awaiting DR's reports,( as we were not together then) I'm told the C7 is involved.
Injury sustained from a motor-bike 18/6/99.
When the injury first happened he was told that his arm would never recover, but now we can both see so much improvement we feel there is a chance to help him.
Tom can now bend his his arm to a 90 degrees to his elbow & hold it there for about 10-30 seconds.
He has partial movement in his hand & quite lot of nerve pain.
We are in Australia & need to know some names & numbers of Doctors-surgeons, who we can contact to help us, PLEASE HELP!!!
Thanks! Allison

Hi Allison,
Your on the right track, contacting sites like this can be a great help.
I avulsed C7 C8 and Ruptured C5 C6, In a motorcycle accident back in June 2001, and had surgery in London Stanmore by Prof Biurch.
Sounds like your Husband is getting good recovery back. Im slowly recovering, But suffer with severe nerve pain (it goes with the territory).
Good luck down there in Australia!!
P.S
Hey Kev, Have you found out about those OILS yet!!

Allison,I live in Sydney.I have an appointment with my doctor regarding surgery on the 23rd jan.i will let you know details inc.recommended surgeons etc.Its good to see your husband is improving. The doctors keep telling me bpi's take two years to recover,i'm beginning to think they have no idea how long it takes.Every bpi seems to have different extent of damage and pain.Best wishes Geoff.

Re: Surgery has any one had any success
Thanks everyone for your support, and your help with the web sites Paul and Lizb, no there are no Doctors in Australia and from my research, it looks like England seems to be the place to go.
I never had any idea that there were so many peole with the same thing as Tom. And to hear you all talking about your pain, and the way you feel, makes me realise we are not alone.
Will have to await the doctors reports I have requested, but at least I have some-where to go now I know where to start.
Thankyou so much, I will keep in touch and let you know what is happening.
