Hi I'm new to the board, but not to brachial plexus pain. I've been taking Oxycontin for over a decade. It seemed to work for the first three days, and ever since then I have been trying to find that initial relief by increasing the dosage, increasing the frequency, and finally giving up and then reducing the amount I take.
Now I'm down to 20 milligrams twice a day, and I'm wondering if any of you made the jump to get off of the Oxy roller coaster? I've tried to go lower, and I seem to have found my threshold before the pain just becomes intolerable.
My Oxy roller coaster allows a couple of hours of benefit before the twists and turns start. I'm not sure if they are from pain or if I am always in a state of withdrawal. I used to think the 12 hour release that I should be getting from Oxycontin just didn't apply to me. Now I wondering if my body is always starting and stopping the process of withdrawal. And really, I'm concerned that it is a combination of both.
So, I'm wondering if any of you have step off of the coaster? Was Oxycontin providing you any real benefit, or were the side effects worse than the help?
Thanks,
Mark
