Well, happy went to pain..
I thought maybe I was going to luck out, NOPE pain pins and needles. feels terrible in my shoulder and deltoid area (area of BPI)
Do any of you have some tricks that work to help w/pain? I'm taking meds. but they don't really seem to help.
I'm sure this is a sign of healing so I have to take the good with the bad.
I need sleep, last night those shocks woke me up a dozen times or more.
HELP who has an idea??
Now the Pain starts/any suggestions
Re: Now the Pain starts/any suggestions
I'm so sorry Mary Beth, I know the pain for husband can be horrible at times and lack of sleep just compounds it so quickly. There are lots of people that are more knowledgable on this than me, but I can tell you that my husband did take Lyrica and then neurontin (when the free sample ran out and we discovered our insurance didn't cover Lyrica). It did help lessen the pain, but definitely not erase it entirely and he had to gradually up the dosage to find a level that worked for him. He decided to wean off of them. He wasn't having any bad effects but just didn't like taking meds and was also going through some emotional issues with the injury that probably also led to that decision. Now if he goes through a bad cycle of pain and hasn't slept well for a few weeks, he will occassionally take an over the counter sleep medication just to relax him at bed time. Once he is well rested, he seems to be able to manage the pain much better. Good luck, I hope you find a combination that works for you!

Mary Beth,
Sorry to hear of your pain. I remember, back in the fall when my biceps, triceps and hand/wrist muscles were waking up, my doctor said I may experience some pretty intense pain. I lucked out and had no pain, but you seem to be experiencing that side effect. Maybe a call to your doctor to change your meds or your dosage may be wise.
Hang in there,

Lyrica has been working pretty well for me, too. It's really been the only thing that helps during the day. At night I add clonozipam to the mix and it does help me sleep. I'll take 1 if I'm just experiencing the normal pain level and 2 if the pain is pretty bad. This is all cool with my Pain Management drs. Getting a good night's sleep is challenging sometimes, I know, but it makes a huge difference for my pain level the following day.
Good luck! I think each of us probably needs to try many different combinations until we find what works best for you personally.

Re: Now the Pain starts/any suggestions
I don't have the shoulder pain, but I do have sharp pains in the hand/wrist area. I take Gabapentin (Neurontin) and it keeps it at bay mostly. I can tell when it wears off and I need to take more! Off the subject, I was looking at your previous posts to see if you have tried the neurontin and noticed on your profile you're a Pre-School Teacher. My wife has been a Headstart Teacher here in OH going on ten years now, just something else sort of in common!? Prayer is wonderful, they've been comin' your way!!
God bless,

Brent,
I'm a Head start teacher too. but it is such a hard job to describe to people. I'm a home based teacher. not center base.
I'm not working right now. I'm taking neurontin 800mg three times a day, I've been taking this drug for many years for other issues, two brain surgeries along with neurontin I take 100mg of topamax I'm not sure if having this stuff already in my system has helped prevent the pain this long and now it's kicking in or what.
I did speak with one of my neurologist he gave me some thing to help me sleep and hydrocodone for now, he wants me to talk to the neurosurgeon on the 27th to see if he has a better suggestion. So last night was just a bit better I got 3 hours of sleep.
thank you for all your help! (everyone).
