Paula
There is a support group in Fla.
It seems to be pretty active that is where I met a group of OBPI/TBPI adults and it was so amazing.
I will contact one of the girls and get her to post here or contact you.

- Injury Description, Date, extent, surgical intervention etc: I am ROBPI, global injury, Horner's Syndrome. No surgery but PT started at 2 weeks old under the direction of New York Hospital. I wore a brace 24/7 for the first 11 months of my life. I've never let my injury be used as an excuse not to do something. I've approach all things, in life, as a challenge. I approach anything new wondering if I can do it. I tried so many things I might never have tried, if I were not obpi. Being OBPI has made me strong, creative, more determined and persistent. I believe that being obpi has given me a very strong sense of humor and compassion for others.

Thank you for the responses.
Amy I'm so glad you are becoming an Occupational Therapist. I've been an RN for many years, and we sure could use you at our hospital. So if you need a job when you finish school and want to move to Florida, just let me know, I've been at the same hospital a hundred years (seems like it anyway!). Also, thank you for acknowledging I haven't ruined Ashley! She is transferring to the University of Florida and is in the third year of a Biological Science degree. Thank goodness UF is less than one hour from home (I'll deny I ever said that!). FSU was two hours away and I had a hard time with that distance. She is beginning scuba diving lessons soon (O.K. Paula, slow....deep....breaths....), and I'm forcing myself not to discourage her. My husband says she wants and needs the independence, so at least she has someone pushing her toward it. I'm afraid if it was up to me, I'd keep her here with me forever.
Thank you for the information on the camp/conference, I'll be watching for the details.

Paula, you are too cute. Deep breaths, Ashley will be great. Scuba diving sounds like fun. It it was warmer up here in MN I would probably want to try that too.
I wish I could go to school at home, an hour drive would be awesome. Right now I am 2 hours and 45 minutes away and it seems so far. I am like a giant homing pidgeon. Cant wat to go home. I would love to move to FL but not during the hurricane season, but I dont think I could leave my family.
Dont worry my mom would keep me with her forever too, and I am actually starting to see this with my dad now too, its kinda cute. lol
Good luck to Ash with a boilogical science degree, that just plain sounds hard.

Thank you so much Kath for help with the support group. I look forward to hearing from someone. I think I read somewhere on this site it is near the space coast. I wish it was on the first coast! But oh well, I don't mind I-95 too much, just get tired of all the construction, does it ever end??? Thanks again. Paula
