Re: Hi all - been a while

<t>Priscilla and Jen - Thanks for your encouragement and support. On both accounts of BPI and Autism the good news is - things aren't as they once were where you were handed your diagnosis with an apology of there's nothing we could do. Change is happening everyday and people no longer simply accept...

Re: Hi all - been a while

<t>Hi Jim,<br/> Hope and faith are what got us to this point. Sounds like you may be familiar w/Chase's injury. Chase had a complete plexus injury w/combination of pre/post ganglionic lesions. We believe he avulsed C8/T1, possibly C7 (maybe a small connection), and C5&C6 were questionable, but t...

Hi all - been a while

<t>Hello,<br/> Last I checked in was back in March just prior to our trip to Mayo for a follow-up/EMG for Chase. Much has happened since then. Chase is doing incredible! Our appt w/the specialists at Mayo (Bishop,Shin,Spinner) went very well. His EMG indicated reinnervation in all of his targeted up...

Re: Heading to Mayo, Mon 3/13 anyone going to be there?

Hi Sue,
That's excellent news! Apparently the results of "natural" return are always better than those from surgical intervention. Be encouraged and know you're under the best of care. We will return in July for a second EMG.
Take care,
Lordes

Re: Finally going to Mayo !?

<t>Hi,<br/> We just returned from Mayo and unfortunately don't have pertinent info relative to their Charity Care program - we stayed at the Kahler Inn & Suites which is connected to the clinic (~80/day), but I will say you're in excellent hands with the team at Mayo and the entire staff there. ...

Re: son going to see Dr. Belzberg

<t>Hi, <br/> We traveled from California to consult with and have surgery with Dr. Belzberg and we love him. We are thankful for his compassion, his dedication and his skillful hands. We also just returned from meeting with the BPI team at Mayo where our son had his first EMG since his surgery in Ju...

Re: Heading to Mayo, Mon 3/13 anyone going to be there?

Hi Sue,
I'm so bummed we didn't get a chance to meet you! We were there from the 12th to the 15th and also stayed at Kahler. I take wireless connection for granted and thought I'd just look you up when we got there, but didn't have access. How did it go?

Re: Could you please recommend a Dr. in the STATES

<t>Hi Roz,<br/> Sorry for all you're going through. Unfortunately BPIs are misdiagnosed all too often, delaying the appropriate care. There are some excellent BPI specialists in the states and you have a couple of them already. Dr. Shin is now in Rochester, Minnesota at the Mayo clinic and part of o...

Re: New here

<t>Hi Lori,<br/> My heart goes out to you - I know how scary this must be for you. My son Chase (age 8,LTBPI), was injured on a dirtbike last March, and it has changed our lives. If your son doesn't have avulsions, meaning the nerves are still attached to his cervical spine, his prognosis is far bet...

Renewed pain w/Flu

<t>Hi all,<br/> My son Chase (age 8,LTBPI), has had the flu for the better part of this week with temps in the 103 range (I had it too - it's bad!). He's no longer feverish, but his pain in his hand is back in full force as it was just after his injury. He's only been taking neurontin 2x/day (400 mg...
