I have a TBPI and would be happy to participate in an interview. My injury involved all 3 cords resulting in Erb's and Klumpke's palsy.

Re: Closure?
<t>Christy - what a fabulous attitude. I am not an OBPI but an adult who suffered a traumatic BPI 2 years ago. I am in the process of a settlement now because my injury was complicated by a medical misdiagnosis. I want closure also, but my closure will also be in terms of money - but my injury has n...

Re: what's up
<t>Good luck in your decision making about the surgeries. In the last year I have had 3 surgeries on my hand. Two tendon transfers which sound similar to the ones you explained. I am very pleased with the results (although I am still not perfect-or even great really). I am able to open my hand to ho...

Re: First Time Here
<t>Hi, I've actually had two tendon transfers in the last 6 months. I did not get my injury at birth, mine was trauma. Do you know the name of the transfers? I had a transfer to restore some function to my thumb. He took one tendon from my index finger and rerouted it to my thumb. The next one was c...

Re: broken links
<t>Applause, Applause, Applause. Thank you. I was beginning to think I was nuts. Being BPI sucks. I am tired of people telling me how wonderfully I am handling this, how much better my arm looks than before, ..... I am tired. 300 PT visits, 3 surgeries, constant burning, casts, splints, pressure dre...

Re: I have my first bug bite on obpi arm??? need help
Sounds a lot like the brown recluse spider bite I got a few years back. Don't wait too long to have a doctor check it out. I needed steroids.
Good luck

3rd time is charm
<t>Well it has been 1 week since my 3rd surgery and I am extremely pleased with results so far. I know it will never be like it was, but compared to 2 years ago, it is great!. I really think fusing my thumb in 30% flexion will allow me to have some pinch capabilities. I am not allowed to straighten ...

Paul, Dr. Barry Callahan (he is an orthopedic surgeon specializing in hands). I think he has done a good job so far. I'll let you know how this one goes.

Re: Surgery has any one had any success
<t>Heading for my third surgery on my hand. Doc's going to do "lasso" surgery to keep my fingers from hyperextending. Scar revision, and put a steel plate in my thumb to fuse it at about 30 degrees. I have been happy with the first two tendon transfers, so I am looking forward to getting more functi...

Cure for freckles
<t>This is light-hearted. I'm usually more serious than this, but I'm having a good day. You see all my life my whole body is covered in freckles. I have used everything, including lemon juice to try and fade them. Well wouldn't you know it, the only good thing about the BPI is that the freckles hav...
