Well it has been 1 week since my 3rd surgery and I am extremely pleased with results so far. I know it will never be like it was, but compared to 2 years ago, it is great!. I really think fusing my thumb in 30% flexion will allow me to have some pinch capabilities. I am not allowed to straighten my fingers for at least another month, but just the bending at the knuckles seems to be better also. The BPI group, we are strong, small things make us happy. Just wanted to share good news. Hope everyone is doing great.

- Injury Description, Date, extent, surgical intervention etc: January 1980 Yamaha RD200 vs 16 wheeler truck, result, 1 totally paralysed right arm. I was 21, now 54. I had no surgery, I don't regret this. Decided to totally ignore limitations (easily done aged 21) adapted very quickly to one handed life, got married, had 3 kids, worked- the effect of the injury on my life (once the pain stopped being constant) was minimal and now, aged 54, I very rarely even think of it, unless I bash it or it gets cold, then I wish I'd had it amputated :) Except for a steering knob on my car, I have no adaptations to help with life, mainly because I honestly don't think of myself as disabled and the only thing I can't do is peel potatoes, which is definitely a good thing.

Well Kathy.......it's always good to hear good news !! So glad your surgeries were successful, and that you're pleased with the results. Hey.......a pinch don't sound like much, but wait until you don't have it anymore, huh. Keep rockin'..........

Hi, I've had only one surgery. They performed 9 tendon tranfers and fused my thumb as well, also for pinching. What did they do for your other surgeries, do you have complete muscle loss in your hand??
