I found out today that finally my insurancewill cover tests. So this friday I will be traveling to Houston to hav an EMG and MRI and also see Dr. Shenaq.

What does an EMG for the upper left arm and shoulder entail and how long does it take?

Is there a web site that will give me info ?

thanks
frankie

Frankie, here are a few websites for you to check out. I get an EMG every 4 months or so, I really dont think they are that bad! I hope these sites help with your questions! Email me if you have more...

My son had one around 2 years ago. It involves the patient remaining still while they put a needle in a certain muscle needed to be tested then they will ask for the patient to try and tighten(move)that muscle to make a "car motor" sound on a monitor. My son was very scared so be ready to be Mommy bigtime. It was very hard for me to see him go through this so I pray you are strong. I don't want to scare you. I just believe my son was scared because he didn't know what was happening not because of pain because the needle is very small.
