My Son is 7 years old with a severe BPI. I am looking into getting SSI to help with medical expenses. Any idea how SSI looks at BPI? Are many BPI patients on SSI? Thanks for your help.

We applied for SSI for our child with a BPI, and he would have been accepted because of this disability, but unfortunately they said we had too many "assets". So, we are looking at what we can do with our "assets" to help our child. You are allowed quite a bit more than if you were applying for medicaid, and if you get the SSI, you are automatically qualified for medicaid. Thats the way it is here anyway.
