The risks of having a surgery

Post by admin »

Hello Everybody,
My name is Shahar, I'm 27 years old living in Israel.
6 month ago I had a hard motorcycle accident in which I damaged my head and my left hand. After some exams as Mri, Emg and us the doctor thinks I had a bad C 5-6 stretch injury. In 2 month I will come to the U.S to have some more exams and get more diagnosis.
Since the injury happened I had no pain at all (thank GOD) and the nerves are moving forward, slow but fine: I have some flickers in my deltoid and maybe biceps too.
My questions are about the surgery result risks:
Can I suffer from pain after the surgery?
Can I have a degeneration in my nerves ability which seem to rebuild themselves nowdays?
Thank you for your answers.
SHALOM.
Shahar.

Shalom Shahar,

You should know there are always risks when it comes to surgery including pain and there is no guarantee that the surgery will fix what is wrong. You are lucky you are not in pain. I was in a car crash when I was 25 on my honeymoon and 9 years later I started having major pain and neck problems to find out thta I have herniations at c-4, c-5, & c-6 and the c-6 has caused me pain down my right shoulder and I did physical therapy and medicine.

Surgery should be your last resort. Especially in the c-5 c-6 area as the c-5 is the paralyzing disc so the neurosurgeon has to really be tops in his field.

I know a lot about medicine, grew up around it.

be careful, have you checked out the doctor's record? you want to know if he has had any cases filed against him, what college did he go to, I always want to know where they were in their graduating class. I want the top 10%.

good luck, I am 49 and would never have surgery unless there were no other options.
