Recumbent trikes

A few weeks ago, I was out blading and saw a couple of people riding recumbent trikes. They looked very fun, stable, and comfortable, and could provide a good way to ride for someone with less than optimal use of an arm. In fact, there's a picture of a guy with one arm on the first website below.

I didn't talk to the riders, so I can't tell you where they got them. However, here are a couple of links I found on the web. They look pretty pricey - I don't know if there are inexpensive models available.

By the way, in response to a question posted on this message board recently, I just say that my arm was paralyzed when I was born. I rather like it when someone asks me about it at times when I am obviously having a problem or doing something differently, rather than avoiding me. I get the question indirectly most often because I use only one pole when I XC ski - in that case, I'm often asked if I broke a pole. Then they usually compliment me (hey, I can use a little flattery) on my skiing, which actually isn't all that good! I don't think others notice the BPI as much as we imagine.

Anyway, if someone here has used one of those trikes, I'd love to hear about it.

Cheers,
Ellen
