Saw my dr. yesterday.

Post by kissygoose »

I'm not happy. She of course knows next to nothing about OBPI. She called up to neurology to see what they said (I'm still waiting to hear about that). She said she didn't want to do anything till we figured out if it was neurological or orthopedic. She said it could just be a rotator cuff problem. She wanted me to have x-rays done but then said she wasn't sure what they would show since the Erbs palsy probably cause some damage but she wanted me to have them anyway. I declined them because we're hoping I'm pregnant. She said we could do PT but she wasn't sure exactly what kind. She moved my arm around and let me tell you...it hurt like the dickens for hours later. At the end she said well, we'll just have to wait and see what neurology says. I asked her what I could do for the pain and she gave me percocet. Like I can really take that on an everyday basis or when I have to be doing anything. I tried telling her about some of the things you all told me and she just kind of shrugged it off and said to wait till she talked to neurology. So now I wait. I suppose at least I started the process.

Sounds like the same old same old from a Dr who doesn't understand BPI. I have heard this soo many times, and I am sure others have too. You really need to see a Dr who specializes in BPI. I know I have been teaching my family practice Dr quite a bit in the last few months. He also said see a neurolgist....and wouldn't perscribe PT. The neutologist hadn't ever even SEEN a BPI patient before. His idea was to see an ortho too. That and pain relievers....like you said....I can't be taking heavy drugs for pain, when I have to be a Mommy.
