Hello everybody,
I'm 27 years old living in israel.
I was injured 6 month ago at my c 5-6 segments.
Now days i decided to have an opperation in the states, but I still need to know some basic advice about it:
Which doctors do you reccomand to go to?
How much time does it take to order a diagnosis visit?
How much money does it cost, more or less?
I'll be thankfull for your answers
bye bye and shalom,

Some basic surgery questions
Re: Some basic surgery questions
Hello Shahar
I hope I can help a bit. There have been many surgical procedures developed in the last 10 years for people with a TBPI. Which procedure is right for you can only be decided after you have had as many diagnostic test as possible like MRI scans and EMG nerve conduction tests no matter what country you go to for possible surgery. Even if you have had these done in Israel, another doctor/surgeon will, or should insist that you have them again at his/her own hospital. Each hospital or doctor will have their own scale of fees for these, the same as they will have for the surgery itself. You will need to contact each one separately to find these out.
I have no idea how long it would take to arrange these in the States as I live in the UK. Also, I have no idea how much they would charge for surgery...from reading here it seems that the cost of the same type of surgery can vary hugely from one surgeon to another.
Sorry I haven't been much help so far!
Have you not considered coming to the UK for this? You could find that the costs are very competitive with the U.S. Try contacting Proff. Simon Kay at Leeds 'Jimmies' Hospital. The website with the details can be found at http://www.leedsth.nhs.uk/directory/det ... tantID=474 There is a contact page linked in the list on the left.
Hope this helps a bit...!

Re: Some basic surgery questions
Hi Shahar,
I hope you'll consider including the Mayo Clinic on your short list, should you come to the US. Not only are they rated very highly (#1 in neurosurgery & orthopedics in this month's U S News & World Report), they're also among the least expensive.
I agree that the UK surgeons are also highly regarded & travel expenses would be less.
Feel free to contact me directly if you'd like additional info.
Keep us posted,
Ellen
