Tina, I have had surgery with Dr. Thomas Wolff in Lousiville, KY and Dr. Nath in Houston,TX. My hand function has gotten stronger with both. Initially I had no hand function at all! now I type with two hand! This has been great for me but as far as the particular surgery, I have no idea. I have had nerve transfers and graphs. I have heard of gracilis muscle transfer for hanf function. Check into that maybe. Best of luck!

If you can make a fist then you need a tendon transfer.
most hand surgeons perform this ans is not a big operation,as long as you have a good grip the the results should be great.
Ihad this done in the UK around 2 yrs ago and the results have been fantastic, get yorself booked in with a specialist

My son had a gracilis transfer to allow hand function. He'd had all 5 nerves avulsed, & now is able to make & release a grip among other functions. The surgery was done by ghe BPI team at Mayo clinic (in Rochester), where one of the three doctors is a hand specialist. I'll be glad to provide other info if you're interested.

Take care & keep us posted.

I went to Philadelphia Hand Center. They were affiliated with Thomas Jefferson University Hospital. I was very pleased with the function I got back in my hand. Still not 100%, nor will it ever be, BUT any return is good.

Good Luck!
