anodyne therapy

Post by jacobsmom »

i have recently learned of a new therapy being used to treat nonhealing diabetic wounds, but have also learned it is used for peripherial neuropathies, edema, bone healing, contractures, chronic pain and a few others. most of the medical studies are with diabetic neuropathy. it is used by pt/ot and is basically a form of light therapy that increases blood flow etc in order to improve and expedite healing. it can be a 15-45 min treatment using pads placed directly on the skin (kinda like e-stim but there is no electricity). it is also safe to use over pins, plates, screws, pacemakers, etc. has anyone ever used this or heard of it? i'm going to try it with jacob and see if it will help with his shoulder capsule contracture since dr kozin was unable to release it (too severe) and therefore unable to reduce his dislocation. if anyone has heard of this tried with our kids please let me know. angela

I haven't heard of this but it sounds really interesting. If you find out more please let us know.

I have also recently started a website and have the alternative we used with Matthew. If you or anyone else has experience with alternative therapies write up a couple of paragraphs and I'll put it on my site. Thanks.
