On March 8, 2004 my duaghers went in for surgery to increase the blood flow in her veins in her right upper shoulder. During surgery the Dr mistakeingly severed her brachial nerve. The error was discovered 12 hours and neurosergon was brought in in repair the nerves. She has 3 year old twin boys at home and this has been devestating as she cannot move her right arm at all. My heart goes out to her and I want to give her some encouragment that eventually 12 months or she will regain her strength back. Can anyone out there that has had this happen to them help me.

I am so sorry to hear about your daughter's injury.
Please check out the Medical Resource Directory
http://ubpn.org/medicalresources/
I don't know what country or state but please see a Brachial Plexus Specialist. Some on the site deal with only birth injured children. Others deal with both adult/tbpi and adult/obpi as well as children.
If the nerve is severed she must see someone soon time is very important.

I am very sorry to her about your daughter's injury. On a positive note, the injury was caught very soon and very fresh. I would guess that her prognosis is much better than the bulk of us sufferers on this board. Her injury was not caused by major trauma or tearing. I would guess that there is little scar tissue. I wish her a very fast and complete recovery. I agree with the previous poster that she needs to see a BPI specialist.
