North Carolina needs help

Post by haley »

I live in North Carolina and need help. If any one has a child, ( infant) that has received care in North Carolina please let me know. I have searched and searched for a doctor with the knowledge and capability to help me little girl. I have taken her to four differnt doctors and they all say something different. I have also been refered by one of her doctors to go to tch for surgery, but medicaid will not cover out of state billing if their is a north carolina doctor that can treat her. Any information will be helpful. Thank you.

Haley, why don't you call TCH and ask if they have had people with the same problem and what they suggest.

Dear Haley,
I also live in NC and I have medacaid. My son's name is Jett. He is 29 months old. We have had 3 surgeries at TCH and medacaid covered it. For his primary surgery my pediatrician wrote medacaid a letter telling them why we wanted to go to TCH. The main reason was because they had a team of doctors that could do more for Jett during one surgery than the drs. here. The drs. here could only do one part of the arm at a time. They were just going to try and get bicep first and worry about the lower part of his arm and hand later. I got approved right away. I don't know if you have done that yet but if you haven't ask your pediatrician to make TCH sound real good.[Which they are.] I also already had a surgery date at TCH before we tried. TCH sent my pediatrician a form they had to fill out to go to medacaid. After you get approved for the first surgery if you need anymore usually it's not a problem because TCH will be his follow-up doctor. The first is always the hardest. I would not give up, it could of just been the person that looked over your situation and you might get somebody different next time.
What part of NC are you from. I'm from ashebero. I brought Jett to Wake Forest Baptist and Duke Hospital. Both places wanted to do surgery on Jett. But when I asked how many surgeries like this do they do in a year, one said 5 or 6, and one said 6-10. After that I knew where I wanted to go. I am so glad I did. Jett just had his third surgery on Jan. 14 2004. He had his primary on March 19 2002. Exactly 2 years from the day you posted. He has a robpi. He had 2 nerves torn apart [ruptured], and three nerves pulled out of the spinal cord[alvulsed]. We still have along way to go and will be back to TCH before the end of the year, but Jett has made tremendous recovery. I wish you luck. Say lots of prayers, it works. Never loose faith. The lord will put you in the right direction if you ask him to.

GOOD LUCK
DAWN

Fight it. I live in Ohio and had medicaid and they sent me to Texas twice!!! You have to show that there are not any surgeons available within the state...but they will then send you to Texas. Good Luck! You can't ever stop fighting!!! I am hosting the Texas surgeons here in Ohio in June. If you can find your way here...they will do the evaluation for free. Just a thought.
