Philly Shriner's Local Hotels

Post by Jules »

I was just wondering where people stay when they go to the hospital. We got a list of hotels from the hospital but it is hard to know which one to choose. Any advice? Also I was wondering if anyone took their kids to the zoo or local museums and how far away they are. We are taking a 5 yr old and a 3 yr old for the first time so we are not familiar with the area at all.

Depending on what hotel you stay in, there are museums like the Franklin Institute, the Philadelphia Zoo, and the Camden Aquarium close by.
Check out this website for some more things to do...

We live in the Philadelphia area, so I can't recommend a hotel to stya in.

We have stayed at the holiday mid-town. It was real nice. They will give you a medical discount. There are many nice spots. Shriner's will mail or fax you a long list of options if you call and ask them. If you get surgery, you can stay at the Ronald McDonald house for free. BE SURE to stay at the one in Camden. It is incredible! Linda Filapone or the social worker should be able to coordinate it for you. The zoo and aquarium are wonderful. We did the aquarium the day after being released from the hospital and it brought much joy to my little one. Hope your visit goes well!
