Florida bpi gathering

Post by njbirk »

I've just returned from the Florida bpi gathering last Saturday. Us snow birds have to take full advantage of an opportunity to escape snow and cold (not good for bpi arm is my excuse) and so I stretched the weeekend to a few extra days in the sun.

Many thanks to those who put together this function. Although I hung out with the adult bpi crowd, where it was great to see Judy, Tony, Neesha, and Courtney and wonderful to meet John, I also enjoyed meeting the parents and the children.

So hats off to Hope and Judy and Leslie and everyone else who worked so hard to put this event together. It is always good to be able to meet others, compare notes, and have a few laughs together.

Injury Description, Date, extent, surgical intervention etc: I am ROBPI, global injury, Horner's Syndrome. No surgery but PT started at 2 weeks old under the direction of New York Hospital. I wore a brace 24/7 for the first 11 months of my life. I've never let my injury be used as an excuse not to do something. I've approach all things, in life, as a challenge. I approach anything new wondering if I can do it. I tried so many things I might never have tried, if I were not obpi. Being OBPI has made me strong, creative, more determined and persistent. I believe that being obpi has given me a very strong sense of humor and compassion for others.

So glad you all had a great time. I know it was wonderful for everyone to see each other and to meet others.

So far we haven't had any more snow this year and Mon the sun was out all day. It was wonderful. Today it is so foggy I can't see anything around us.

Hugs, Karen
