I was told last week, the nerves are no longer the problem by specialist. My Orth doctor says it has to be.So.......whos right. Ive been going in circles the past 2.5 years going doctor to doctor, believing what they were telling me.Now,both orthopedically and nerve wise they all say "cant do nothing for you".If anyone knows why I cant raise my arm after all this time, please fill me in.

You said your orth says. Is that orthopedic, if so have you seen a neurologist about the nerve damage?

Sandi,
I would advise you to posibbly get a nother opinion. With the research taht I have done, the nerves will never be ok. They are yet to come up with a procedure to reverse the damage to the nerves. How long have you had a BPI? What was the diagnosis? Let me know if I can help!

Hi Sandi
Don't get too hung up on what your doctor's title is, as long as he or she is an adult bpi specialist whose main interest is trauma cases. An ortho can be a bpi specialist and many of the world's best known bpi specialists are orthos.
I'm surprised they have said nothing can be done as even in really severe long standing injuries there is often some kind of surgery that can help if that is what you want, but of course all cases are different. If I were you I would seek a second opinion from a bpi specialist, check in the medical resources section of the home page here.
Good luck! Jen NZ

Hi... The same thing happened to me. My arm wouldn't raise up higher than about 3-4 inches and everyone told me that there was nothing they could do to help me. By the grace of God, I found a doctor named Dr. Nath out of Houston, Texas that took me under his wing and what I consider saved my life. So maybe you should try contacting him and I wish you the best!

Hi Sandi...you didn't say whether you have had any diagnostic procedures such as EMG MRI or Myleogram...these tests will indicate the extent of any damage to the nerves of the BP. Even then, these tests aren't 100% accurate, but it's a start. Did you have an accident 2.5 years ago?
