Flying vs. Driving

I am scheduled to have my surgery on Jan. 29 at TCH. I live in SC, wanted to hear from some adults as to whether they flew or drove, I know that Rachel flew. If we have to drive will be a 2 day ordeal, flying is only 2 and a half hours. I didn't know how the airlines would do with me having the splint on on the way home. I am looking forward to the surgery and am also a little nervous. I have not had any type treatment for my arm before now and I'm 42. Any advice that ya'll could give me would be helpful.

Hi Eletha
I don't know about the driving. I hate flying and would much rather drive anywhere! I fly when I have to only.
I just wanted to wish you luck with your surgery and hope you have great results.
Keep us posted please. It is so nice to read about all the great results that adult/obpi are getting from surgery.

Eletha:
I am a 32 ROBPI. I live in Alabama & we flew to Texas. I am sure that we could of drove, but I don't think I could of made it back home in the car. We flew back on a Saturday & it was crowded. I had that big splint on my arm & the airlines were really nice about it. We flew Southwest & they don't have assigned seats so my husband & I were fortunate to be able to keep a seat between us so my arm had a place to sit too!! HAHA I was so ready to get home & the quickest way was to fly. It took us about 1 1/2 hours to get home.
I had the mod quad in 8/03. What type of surgery are you having?
I am flyig out on this Sunday to meet a doctor that Dr Nath suggest I see about the humeral osteotomy. I am nervous/anxious to hear what he has to say.
If everything goes as planned I will have the surgery in February.
GOOD LUCK

Thanks for the advice. I will be having the mod quad on Jan. 29th with Dr. Shenaq. How did you do with yours? My arm has started hurting so bad now that I can hardly wait to have something done with it. Thanks for your support

I had a lot of pain before I had the mod quad. It was if someone had a weight on my shoulder. I haven't had that feeling since (knock on wood). Keep us posted on how your doing. It is such a scary/exciting time.
