has any body tried this for chronic pain?

i've been on it for three years, i take a max of 7.5mg hydro and 750mg acetametaphen
every six hours

i'm careful not to take to much...however during severe bouts i have to take more

i know to be careful to watch the acetametaphen not to damage my liver

anyway...thinking of changing, but not sure to what...side effects sometimes catch up with me...tired, depressed, memory loss

what is/was your experience with hydro?
what else worked for you?

Merry Christmas, doda!
My husband and both have "lived on" hydrocodone from time to time. Hydrocodone is the generic term for Vicodin. Lortab is essentially the same formulation but not as damaging to the liver over long term usage. As a cancer patient in 1997 I was taking massive doses of hydrocodone and my oncologist told me about the difference in the formulation between the Vicodin and Lortab, but I don't remember exactly what it is right now. You might want to discuss this with you doctor and see if the change is right for you. I didn't notice any difference in the relief from pain, meaning the Lortab worked just as well.
You are very fortunate to be able to manage your pain with hydrocodone as so many others, including my husband and myself have had to move to a stronger class of drugs for pain control.
Hope your Holidays are good and as pain free as possible!

I have been taking hydrocodone 10/650 since around 1995 or 1996. I do not take it often. I try to keep it to no more than 2 a week. Recently, it seemed like I was needing more. I spoke with my doctor and have started taking Ultram. It is something that can be taken more often and while it is not as strong as the hydrocodone it seems to be working for me. Now I keep the hydrocodone when nothing else works.
