Yes Maia got her bathing splint made today by her local OT and tonight we barely could wait to get in there and test it out!
They made the splint out of aquaplast - with no padding and just some minimal strapping. It's also shorter - well just different. When you use it you can actually see the difference in a good quality splint like the one TCH made us..and this one...it's surprising! TCH did a really great job - thank you Lance!
A few of the velcro strips popped off in the water - but I'm going to glue gun them down tomorrow so that won't happen anymore....
wanna see pictures?

There is nothing like a bath to help you sleep. My thoughts are with all of you. I remember the first bath for Gabrielle after surgery. She was in heaven!

Hope y'all slept a long one! Just thought of an idea - After a bath, on fresh sheets - with the "noise maker" going my kids will sleep almost two hours longer sometimes. Our noise maker is an air purifier - I think there are lots of types of noise makers - water sounds, birds chirping (that one would drive me nuts!) Anyway - glad the water splint worked and that someone is better smelling these days. Christy

Francine, I know Maia is still very young, but I have to tell you about something we found for Colleen to really make her use her arm for overhead movement. Maybe you already have one, but it is called a Turbi Towel Twist. When Colleen gets out of the bath, she feels like a grown up with this little light weight towel on her head. She has to reach up with both arms to get it to work, plus she looks awful cute in it!

Yeah Maia!!! I know that bottom felt better girl! I hope that you slept well and feel better this morning. Adaptation--that is what it is all about. Who cares HOW you got there Frannie--the "end" result is worth all the effort!
Glad it worked out.

Yeah for bathtime!! We just bought a shower head with a handle so that we could better clean Nicole's bottom half anyway (while she stands in the tub wearing her splint and holding onto Daddy's shoulder while Mommy washes her). Half the body is better than none, right?! I hope the bath helped her (and you) to sleep well lastnight. I looked at the pics -- wow, she really has been missing out on some sleep. You also have a lot of info. in your journal that I haven't read yet. I ran out of toner, but when I get the new one in, I'll print it out and read it all. Wish I could get disciplined about journalizing our experiences. Someday (yeah, right?!). See you in chat tonight (if I'm not konked out before then -- very tired at the moment). -T
So the sleep thing only works for the 1st night...
we're back to no sleep....ugh....
back to zombieland for me - this is horrible

Hope Maia is enjoying her bath time! Are you giving her 2 a day just for catching up purposes?? lol Sorry to hear that you guys aren't sleeping well though. That has to make this process even rougher. Do you have a white noise "machine" in Maia's room? Even a small fan? Something like that might help. Good luck to you!! Will continue to keep you all in my prayers.
