SSI/DISABILITY

Post by admin »

We got turned down for SSI. WE cannot recieve Disability since he is only 91/2 months and never worked. They say, my husbands unemployment checks are too high and we have a vehical worth over $5000.
And My son is only allowed to have $250 in possessions. NOw I know alot of wealthy parents whose children recieve this. My niece for one who has CP, recieves much, and my brother has his own buisness and does well. Everything is paid for with at least 650$ in spending money no one questions. My husband makes 130$ over the limit to qualify yet if he recieved $1 dollar below the limit we would get $520. Does this make any sense? i need help.

If you were turned down, there should have been some papers sent to you explaining how to appeal their decision. If you didn't get the papers, I would call the SSI office and request the paperwork needed to do this.

we are going through this right now! we were turned down. something like 83% of requests are denied the first time. you only have 60 days to appeal. do this ASAP! if denied again.. appeal again. Also... get in touch with the Katy Beket program. If your child is considered "disabled" and you make too much money... the Katy Becket program provides like an income waiver...so that those of us who are income ineligible may be able to recieve medical assistance... we are in the process of this all right now and its not fun....
but for those who are doing the KB application... there is a part that asks to describe a day in the life... I recieved a tip.. tell the worst day story!!!

i hope this helps. however... double check my info as i am just starting out on this process!

i was turned down also.my boyfriend who i live with makes to much money..lol..boyfriend..
but i did learn it is how your doctor prsents your case in his reports.your doctor is allowed to give a personal recomindation, and give this is details to s.s.
this will help so much with the process,
get a lawyer who listens to you and wants you to win.
good luck

We have been fighting SSI for almost 2 yrs now for my daughter who is 4. We had to get an attorney to help because it was so overwhelming. We are now waiting for our hearing date which should be in the next few months. So we will let everyone know how it turns out.
Good luck ~Jessica

I am going through this right now, ask about a medical spend down for the medical expenses you pay monthly. In Oklahoma, they deduct them from your income. Just a thought, worth trying.
