NEW BRACE OR STRAP

What is a supination strap/brace? My arm still just hangs from my elbow down. I cannot flex my elbow. I have control over my shoulder area though. Is this strap used for non functional hands and arms? Just wondering cause I wear a sling when I go out and it is so uncomfortable. My arm and elbow gets really sore when I wear it for long periods of time. Are there any pictures on the internet that I can see different braces or slings that anyone would know of? Thanks. Karen

Hi Karen- check out this page
http://www.injurednewborn.com/maia/splints.html

at the bottom is the wilmer brace that you may want to look into....

You may also want to look into the Ark braces... they are custom made and according to Maia (my daughter) her brace is VERY comfortable. Ruth makes them custom and if either of her braces don't work for you - she can design something specific for your needs I am sure.

Where do you live? I'm in PA and Ruth Cofre will be in PA on January 24-25 for a bpi symposium. Let me know if you are anywhere near here and can come...

karen -one more thing...when you go to the splint page and at the bottom you see the wilmer orthosis - just click on the wilmer site and you will see a few different kinds - one for elbow and one for wrist as well... maybe this would be better for you because you said that it's elbow down issues rather than shoulder....the ark braces so far deal with shoulder issues...

Hello All, I wanted to thank you for responding to my posting and giving me some answers as to a new brace. I have checked into a couple of the websites and have found some appropriate braces for my particular injury. Thanks again. Karen
