Need help. Taylor has some very raised and red scars from her last surgery. They called them Keloid Scars and what I'm reading I'm not liking. Any suggestions? They gave us silicone sheets to put over them at night while she sleeps for now. Thanks for any info you can share. Love ya, Mara

Unfortunately, Mara - this is Taylor's immune system kicking in. Silicone does sometimes help - and certain silicone products work better than others so if this one sheeting doesn't work - try another kind - there are many. There is even liquid silicone you can get. One of Maia's scars keloided badly. I wouldn't have done anything with it except that she kept on scratching it and was cutting it open all the time. Dr. Nath removed it (this is called a scar revision) and it hasn't grown back..but I know another little boy who had a revision and it came back worse - so there's no telling.
Wanted to tell you that if you want someone expert in this to work with Taylor - you can get a consult with a therapist at a hospital that is a burn center. They know their stuff when it comes to scarring.
How's baby? Nice to see you back - sorry that Taylor is having this issue, though.

I am sorryh to hear about this with the little ones. I am TBPI and have a HUGE keyloid on my neck from surgery. I Have just begun to use the silicone sheets as well, just a week now and they are working great for me. I also have been using this skin conditioning oil by ARBONNE INTERNATIONAL. I think it is great as well! I Just massage a drop into the scar. I have been using it on and off for a while now but now twice a day. It is a product that they are using in burn centers now. I got it from a PT that works at the burn center at the University of Michigan. Something to check out, and it is all natural!!! (
