At aquacise this morning, a woman threw one of her weights over to me and said,"here, I only need one too, it's too hard for me to use weights with both arms". OK, what's up with this I think. So later, over in the shallow end while passing,(remember we're in aquacise so we're walking back and forth across the pool) I ask her about her arm. She says she has no muscles either. OK, so next time around she tells me she has brachial palsy from birth. I say Erb's Palsy. She's amazed. She shows me her scar over her bicap from surgery she had in 1962 and she has no pain-ever. She advised me that the doctors would/could do more surgery but if she's in no pain and happy with everything the way it is, then leave it alone. She can raise the effected arm to her mouth but not straight over her head. She works as a nurse. So, anybody out there who thinks the Canadian doctors are not educated about this injury think again, 1962, and surgery was done on an erb's baby. I was so proud to be Canadian.
