Prayers for Brittany

Post by admin »

Just wanted to update everyone on Brittany's surgery. Wow, this one was difficult. I think as she gets older, the surgeries will get harder. She experienced a lot of pain for the first two days. For those of you that know Brittany, you just can't believe this - she laid around for two days crying. It was very hard!! For me and her. Dr. Nath did relieve some of the pain by readjusting her splint for a short time. We go back to Houston on Thursday to move it back to the correct position. Dr. Nath said that on the acromioplasty that he did have to remove quite a bit more bone than on the others he has done. He is thinking because she is older. That also caused more pain. On top of all of this, Brittany also has the phrenic nerve damage, so she developed breathing difficulty on Thursday. We had a big ordeal with the nurses trying to get breathing treatments, (I won't even go into that). Well, they let us go home Friday evening, and we have continued her breathing treatments since we got home, but today I had a bad feeling. So, I took her to our pediatrician and she is borderline pneumonia. She has also developed bi-lateral ear infections. Please keep her in your prayers that she won't get full blown pneumonia. She does not want to go back to the hospital..
Thanks,
Kimberly

Kimberly - Maia and I will be praying for Brittany. I'm sorry to hear she had such a tough time. Truly sorry.
Can you tell me if she is Robpi or Lobpi? (so I can focus my prayers)
Thanks,

It breaks my heart to think of what are children have to go through. I am so sorry that so much pain was involved. I will be thinking of her and praying for her. Sure hope she is feeling much, much better.

If you don't mind sharing....

Do you know what # Brittany was to have this new acromion surgery?

Also, was her pain level unusual for this new procedure or have some of the previous children had a lot of pain the first day or so?

I am sure it will all be worth it. Take care.

Kimberly,

I think Brittany was one of the girls that my oldest daughter played with in the lake at Camp. My daughter, Dana, wanted Brittany to know that she hopes that she feels better real soon!

Francine she is ROBPI.

She is like #16 or so to have this. I think pain is always going to be involved when you are cutting on bone. It was nothing unusual. Dr. Nath just said he had to take more out than he has had to do on other children.

So sorry Brittany has had to go through this.
Hope that things improve quickly and that pneumonia does not become full blown.
