TGIF!
Just wanted to share a cool story about my week. Im a 4th grade public school teacher in south florida. This is our 2nd year using a new reading textbook series. The story for this week was called "Amelia & Eleanor Go For a Ride". It's a historical fiction story describing the exciting lives of Eleanor Roosevelt & Amelia Earhart with a theme of aviation, flying planes, etc.
It was then followed by a two page spread/magazine article titled "Wings of Hope". It was an awesome article about kids with disabilities & Houston's Hobby Airport. I instantly connected w/ this & practically fainted in front of my class - i was amazed!
We then had an informative question & answer period, after I opened up to them about my 2 surgery experiences in houston 2 years ago (teachable moment:)...we ended the lesson discussing- Awareness Week & this web site.
*I remember reading about "Wings of Hope" & other airline specials on Francine's web site many years ago! Thank you to all...What a terrific program!
