Has any adults had bicep lengthening? I plan on having it in 2/04. Thanks!

Well, it is a procedure that will make the arm straight. I have a bend in my elbow (like most obpi's). I am not sure what exactly they do to the muscles. I know that alot of children have had this done. I will have to wear a splint for 8 weeks afterwards. Dr Nath said I would miss 2 weeks or work. Then therapy again. I will try to get more info.

What happens when you have the bicep lengthening? Does it make your arm longer?

Hey, yes it does make your arm longer because it takes the bend out of it. I am SO excited about this procedure.

Can anyone who had the surgery tell me what the cast/splint is like? I'm getting it in about three weeks.

Sarah,
Who is doing your surgery. I didn't have the bicep lengthening in February. I had the humeral osteotomy. The lengthening is next.

Hello my name is Kimberly and just recently realized I am one of probably millions like us. You have mentioned straighting of your elbow. Unlike alot of the posting I have read. My problem is at my elbow, it is as if there is a lock on it, and it wont allow my arm to straighten out. Is this what you have? But I do have the pain and tingling down my arm to my fingers , where the joints in my fingers hurt so bad...Could you please get back to me.
Please tell me everything.. Take care.
Kim

That is pretty much my main symptom too, and over the past few months I have been developing some nerve irritation from my elbow that runs down along my forearm and into my ring and pinky fingers. I am just starting the process of getting answers and seeking out procedures so I am not sure exactly what can be done to relieve that. I am thinking that once the surgery for biceps lengthening and tendon transferring occurs that should help relieve that nerve irritation.
