Hello to all,
Seems like I haven't posted on here in such along time. Today Roberto had a follow visit with the orthopedic dr and he mentioned about doing a tendon transfer. Has anyone's child just had a tendon transfer and no other surgeries & did it help? He said that it would help him with things that he days everyday in life. He has internal rotation and the tendon transfer would help with that also. Thanks for your replies in advance,RoseAnne

RoseAnne,
I know all children are different but in our case and many others the tendon transfers did not help with internal rotation. The internal rotation may be caused by the anterior capsule being tight.

Roseann,
Where will the tendon transfer be?
Tendon transfers have been done successfully as a surgical procedure for bpi for many many decades. The mod quad that is spoken of frequently here incorporates tendon transfers as part of the surgery.

I had a tendon transfer on my wrist back, oh almost 40 years ago. It was very successful and is still working well!

my son Gavin had a tendon transfer for internal rotation contracture 2 years ago aged 9 years - it was very successful, although getting him to do the physiotherapy was hard! - he's VERY pleased he had it done, he says his arm feels "looser" now and he can throw basketball more easilly !!! ( oh, don't you wish you had their perspective of life !!)
we were pleased with the results.
