My name is Andre and I'm 16 years old. Well I went inside my friends car and he asked me if I brought my wallet with me. I said that I forgot and went outside in the middle of the road to go back to my house to get it. From there some guy hit me going around 40mph.

I got some bumps and scars around my body, but the most serious injury I have is damage to my brachial plexus. After I got the MRI I was told that my nerves were streched and not torn.

This is getting me really depressed because participating in school has become impossible because I cant move my right arm. I'm wondering if I will recover from the injury because my doctor refuses to tell me if I will or what my chances are. So I'm hoping you guys could tell me what to do and what to expect. thanks.

Hi Andre
This message board is for adults injured at birth, you might get more responses on the trauma message board above this one.
If your nerves are just stretched your recovery might be a good one-you don't say how long ago you were injured. I have known people with stretch injuries who didn't have any sign of recovery for 6 months or more but still went on to get a good recovery. Everyone is different but your age is definitely on your side.
Hoping things look better soon Jen NZ:0)

Hi Andre,
The most important thing for you to do is to get to a brachial plexus specialist as soon as possible to find out what treatments are available for you. A lot of doctors are not well trained in this specialty and I would hate to see you miss an opportunity because you got bad advice. Where do you live? There is a resource page somewhere on this website that may help you find a doctor near you. Try asking questions on some of the other boards (such as the trauma board or the general board - more people hang out there). Good luck!
