pain
pain
Do any of you have any advise on how to manage the pain that I'm having in the bpi arm. It is getting so bad that I can't seem to function much anymore. I am trying to help with my son's marching band but can't seem to do as much as I did just last year. The arm seems to be getting much weaker. I am scheduled for surgery at tch in January. I live in SC, so around here it seems that the Dr.'s aren't familiar with bpi or Erbs. Thanks for any suggestions.

Re: pain
There is a Dr. Belzburg in Maryland who was at the UBPN camp who seems to know his stuff about bpi pain. He can be found on the medical resources listing on the home page.
There's going to be a bpi clinic in North Carolina in October - don't know how far you are. Dr. Nelson who is a physiatrist (who used to be at TCH) and Dr. Shenaq (from TCH) will be there. Information is found on http://www.injurednewborn.com/gatherings.html
I hope that you find some sort of relief soon. I'm sorry that you are going through this.

Re: pain
ps - I'm not sure what your surgery is for, but Ryan McClune told me at camp that his surgery did help with his pain levels... you may want to contact him ryan@ubpn.org to find out more about what his situation was.
