This surgery corrects a posterior dislocation of the humerus.

It is done through a small incision in the back of the shoulder. Then the child is put in an splint for 6 or 8 weeks 24/7 and then 6 or 8 weeks at night.

This surgery may have to be repeated.

My daughter, Maia, just had this surgery on December 10th. I have pictures of the splint used:

Do you have any specific questions that we may be able to answer for you?

My son, Preston, has also had this procedure. The shoulder movement and flexibility has increased tremendously. As the previous author, let me know if I can answer and specific questions.

Good Luck - Bill
