Just found out about a 17 year-old with OBPI

I know I rarely post but I just had to share this. About 2 weeks ago, Justin(LBPI) was cutting with scissors at his camp(preschool). I was standing next to him and his teacher made a comment how well he was cutting with the scissors. Then she said it again to me and I told her he had a lot of OT since he was born and the therapist taught him how to use the scissors. She asked why and I told her he was born with a BPI. She said Oh, you mean Erb's Palsy? She said her daughter was born with a BPI 17 years ago. She said she had extensive therapy when she was younger and now plays softball all over the country. She told me she had NEVER met anyone with this injury. I told her about the website and I am hoping to speak with her daughter soon. I just found out that Justin will be in her class in September which I am very happy about.
Justin just turned 4 last Tuesday and I have been feeling sentimental these days. He had his surgery when he was 21/2 and he is doing fine. I remember when he was just 2 weeks old, I found this website on a Saturday night while using my husband's laptop from work. We did not have a computer back then. I cried all night because this website made me realize that my baby may not "get better" as they had told me in the hospital. I am so thankful for this site and could not imagine going through life not knowing anyone else who has gone through it too, like Justin's teacher. Melissa
