Sorry to keep posting questions but .... my insurance man is not being nice. He is not in favor of sending me to New Orleans (because i am in MI) so he has asked me to check out this guy. (http://www.neurosurgery.org/aans/resear ... oulis.html) Thats what I have found. Sounds good for nerves but nothing about BPI???? HELP please!

Well, he's quite a guy from what it says here, and I'm impressed with his volunteer surgical work in Guatelmala. BUT it doesn't look like tbpi is a speciality of his, or even obpi.
The parents on the gen board are quite good at insisting on a particular facility if other facilities more local to them are not as experienced in obpi. I think you should try and put the case that altho many many doctors dabble in tbpi, as far as I can see Kline is far and away the most experienced both in time and numbers. A trauma brachial plexus injury is very complex and less experienced surgeons will not have seen all the permutations of it and most important of all, won't understand the pain element-this is my biggest concern when I talk to injured people who are seeing less tbpi experienced guys. By all means talk with this Boulis guy, but if he doesn't know all about tbpi, insist on someone who does.
Just my 2 cents! Let us know what happens :0)

Hi Courtney...I am totally confused here...why are your insurance people asking you to check out a Dr who mainly treats people who suffer from a form of motor neurone disease? Although ALS is a neurological problem, it really is not relative to TBPI...not that I can tell anyway? Surely, it is up to the medical profession to determine (or at least try to) which Dr or surgeon you see and not someone who works for an insurance company?? Sorry if I am being a bit blunt, but this shows an extremely worrying, although sadly typical total lack of any kind of knowledge about these injuries. I hope they will change their minds...please let us know how you get and if there is anything I can do to help...

Thanks girlies! Those were my thought exactly! I sent the link to my mom and asked her to look at it too ans she felt the same as well. My car insurance comany has to pay for airfair, lodging, food, while I got to see a DR out of state and I think they hate that! But oh well right! Thanks for your input girlies, I really apreciate it!
